WhatsApp is replacing its text-based
status messages with something very similar to Snapchat’s Stories
feature. The feature will be available to WhatsApp’s billion-plus users
today on Android, iOS and Windows Phone. Like Snapchat Stories, WhatsApp
users will be able to take a photo, adorn it with drawings, text and
emojis, and then post it as your status. These status updates will
appear in a new tab, where contacts can view it for the next 24 hours.
This will be the fourth Facebook product to ripoff Snapchat — Instagram did so back in August, followed by Facebook Messenger and then Facebook. WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook in 2014. What do you think about this latest blatant Snapchat imitation? Snapchat’s IPO is scheduled for March 2.
