Facebook has launched the latest addition to the platform, called Facebook Stories. The update has three new features in the form of a redesigned camera function, Stories taking prime position at the top of your feed, and Direct, a private messaging service that takes place inside the main Facebook app, separate from Messenger. Facebook Stories works in a similar way toSnapchat and Instagram Stories in that posts can be customized and each have a 24-hour lifespan, but contains a new twist in the form of animated face filters that were designed by artists Hattie Stewart and Douglas Coupland. The update is available from today on iOS and Android phones.
The news comes just a few days after the company announced an update for Messenger that aims to make the app more engaging for the user.
