This summer, pilot-free passenger
drones will become the norm in the skies above Dubai with the take off
of the Ehang 184, which will enable residents to skip the city’s
substantial traffic. The electric vehicle — which debuted at CES in 2016
— can carry one passenger weighing up to 100kg and according to Dubai’s
Roads and Transportation Agency, will be put into operation in July.
Upon boarding the Ehang 184, passengers can select a destination and the
drone autopilots to the location.
It marks a big step forward for drone technology, which has made major headway recently, with Amazon trial product deliveries at the end of 2016, and other cities surely to be following the Ehang 184′s progress closely.
