Stephen Hawking will be going to space, all thanks to Richard Branson‘s Virgin Galactic group. In a conversation on Good Morning Britain, the renowned physicist and cosmologist said that “Richard Branson has offered me a seat on Virgin Galactic, and I said yes immediately.” Virgin Galactic hopes to begin commercial flights to space in the near future but it has been hit with plenty of setbacks and complications.
Richard Branson has long been a fan of Hawking’s work, saying back in 2015, “Professor Stephen Hawking is one of the people I admire most in the world, an undisputed genius who has opened our eyes to the wonders of the universe, while also happening to be a kind and delightful man. He is the only person I have given a free ticket with Virgin Galactic, and he is signed up to fly as a Future Astronaut with us if his health permits it.”
In other space news, Elon Musk is looking to fly two tourists out to the moon in 2018 with his SpaceX company.
